Wear the journey.Carry the legacy.
Born from the Vietnamese refugee and boat people experience. Built in America through hard work, sacrifice, and second chances. Carried forward by every generation willing to remember where we came from—and help someone else rise.
Not a boast.
A shared aspiration.
G.O.A.T. means Generations Overcoming Adversity Together.
Boat to G.O.A.T. is not about ego, cockiness or claiming to be better than anyone. The boat represents where many Vietnamese refugee families began—with uncertainty, sacrifice and hope. G.O.A.T. represents what those sacrifices made possible and the responsibility we carry forward.
It honors the first generation that survived and rebuilt, the generation raised between two cultures, and the children who will carry the legacy into the future. Our products are simply vessels for sharing their stories, life lessons and values.
The boat reminds us where we came from. G.O.A.T. reminds us what we can become—together.
Three generations. One continuing journey.
Our story did not end when the war ended, when the boat reached shore, or when our families arrived in America. That was the beginning of another journey—learning a new language, taking any honest job available, raising children between two cultures, building businesses, buying homes, serving our neighborhoods, and turning survival into possibility.
They survived
Our parents and grandparents left behind homes, loved ones, professions, and everything familiar. They carried little in their hands, but an extraordinary amount of courage in their hearts.
We built
Our generation grew up quickly. We translated, adapted, worked, studied, sacrificed, and built lives our parents could only hope would become possible.
They will lead
Our children do not need to repeat our hardship to respect it. They can learn the story, embrace their identity, use every opportunity well, and open doors for those who follow.
Memory with a purpose.
From Boat to G.O.A.T. is apparel, storytelling, mentorship, and community stewardship working together. What we wear starts the conversation. What we do next gives the conversation meaning.
Honor the journey. Strengthen the next generation.
We preserve and share the Vietnamese refugee and boat people experience; celebrate the work, sacrifice, and achievements of Vietnamese Americans; and turn that legacy into practical mentorship, knowledge, access, and opportunity.
We remember with dignity. We build with gratitude. We give back with purpose.
A proud, connected, and generous Vietnamese American future.
We see generations who understand their roots without being trapped by the past; who are confident in both their Vietnamese heritage and American identity; and who measure success not only by what they earn, but by whom they help rise.
Survival gave us a future. Stewardship determines what we do with it.
To those who carried us here.
We honor the Vietnamese men and women whose lives were forever changed at the end of the Vietnam War; the refugees and boat people who faced loss, uncertainty, camps, separation, and dangerous crossings; and the families who began again with little more than faith, courage, and one another.
We also offer our sincere gratitude to America and to the sponsors, churches, schools, neighbors, employers, service members, and communities that welcomed our families and gave us a chance to rebuild. America was not always easy, and our journey was not without struggle—but it gave many of us freedom, education, opportunity, and a place to call home.
Our gratitude is not passive. We express it by serving our communities, mentoring young people, creating opportunity, strengthening families, participating in civic life, and helping make this country better for the next family seeking a new beginning.
We survived hardship. We built opportunity. Now we carry both with gratitude.
For the generation that built—and the generation becoming.
The same story speaks differently across generations. Boat to G.O.A.T. creates a place where lived experience can become guidance, and where curiosity about identity can become pride, purpose, and belonging.
Your struggle created more than success.
You worked long hours, learned unfamiliar systems, raised families, built businesses, and often carried your story quietly. This is a place to preserve what you learned and pass it on while it can still guide someone.
- Share a family or refugee story
- Mentor a student, professional, or entrepreneur
- Open a door through an introduction or opportunity
- Help document the lessons behind the achievement
Your roots are not a limitation. They are your foundation.
You can be modern, ambitious, creative, and fully American while still honoring the people and history that made your life possible. You do not have to choose between moving forward and looking back.

- Find mentors who understand culture and ambition
- Build skills, confidence, networks, and opportunity
- Express your identity in a way that feels authentic to you
Success becomes legacy when it opens a door.
We celebrate achievement, but we do not stop there. The work is completed when knowledge, access, courage, and opportunity move from one generation to the next.

Clothing can signal status—or something more enduring.
Many immigrant families first bought clothing for necessity: price, warmth, work, school and durability. As our choices grew, clothing also became a signal of taste, belonging, achievement and identity. Boat to G.O.A.T. asks a deeper question: when you put someone’s design on your body, what story and values are you choosing to carry?
We all wear someone’s story. Did we choose it—or simply recognize the name?

The journey reached Sacramento.
Little Saigon, Stockton Boulevard, the Tower Bridge, two rivers, the City of Trees—these are not tourist symbols. They are places where Vietnamese American families worked, gathered, served, and built belonging.
This is personal to me.
I came to America as a Vietnamese refugee and boat person after nearly two years in an Indonesian refugee camp. I was about ten years old. I did not fully understand the journey then, but I have spent a lifetime understanding what it required from my parents—and what their sacrifice made possible for me.
America gave my family a second chance. It gave me an education, a profession, a business, a community, and the freedom to raise my children with possibilities my parents could not take for granted. I do not forget that. Gratitude, to me, is not simply saying thank you. It is using what we have built to help someone else.
For more than twenty years, my work in tax and financial services has placed me beside families and business owners during their most important decisions. My service in Sacramento’s Vietnamese American community and Little Saigon has allowed me to see both how far we have come and how much knowledge, history, and opportunity can still be lost between generations.
I created From Boat to G.O.A.T. because our story deserves more than a memory, and our success should become more than an individual achievement. I want our generation to share what we learned. I want our children to know that their heritage is not something old-fashioned to hide—it is proof of courage, adaptability, hard work, and hope.
Wear it proudly. Learn the story. Add your chapter. Then reach back and help the next person move forward.
Giving Back and Paying Forward,
Tido Thac Hoang
Founder and Legacy Steward

Return as a steward
Those who receive guidance come back as mentors, sponsors, employers, donors, and builders for the generation behind them.
A childhood question becomes literature for the next generation.
At seven or eight years old, Tido crossed the Pacific in a flimsy river boat, surrounded by fear and uncertainty. In the middle of it all, he asked his aunt one innocent question: “Does America have ice cream?”
Years later, his family opened Gold Pops and sold popsicle ice creams and frozen pops for almost five years. The children’s publishing program carries that real memory into a picture book, coloring book, family-history worksheets, parent and teacher resources, and community story events.
“Yes, America has ice cream.”
“Some dreams melt. Their meaning remains.”
What the community built should help build the community.
Giving Back and Paying Forward is not a slogan added to our products. It is the responsibility behind them. Boat to G.O.A.T. supports local and national community-based and nonprofit organizations whose work protects families, preserves culture, expands opportunity, develops leaders, and keeps the Vietnamese American story moving forward.
Products with a purpose
A designated portion of sales or proceeds from participating products and campaigns will support eligible community-based and nonprofit organizations aligned with our mission.
Local roots, national reach
We will invest in both hometown work—including Sacramento and Little Saigon—and organizations responding to Vietnamese and refugee community needs across America.
More than a check
Support may also include volunteer service, mentorship, professional knowledge, storytelling, event collaboration, donated products, scholarships, introductions, and access to opportunity.
Accountability matters
Each designated campaign should state who benefits, the applicable product or period, how support is calculated, and what was ultimately contributed.
More than merchandise.
Every campaign has one message, one audience, and one action. The story builds recognition; the action builds community.
